About Me

Hi friends, thanks for reading my profile!

My name is Lydia. As a local person, living in Chengdu since childhood, I know her very well. I love to meet people from anywhere and make friends with them, and still keep in touch with each other once in a while. My hobbies are reading, sporting and traveling around, which calm my mind. As a proverb goes, you can either travel or read, but either your body or soul must be on its way.

When talking about the old town of Chengdu, we always associate it with the traditional and ancient, as it has a long history of more than 3200 years. Its most splendid period was the Three Kingdom’s period, which related to another old saying, three cobblers with their wits combined equal Chukeh Liang the master mind. What’s more, Chengdu is the cradle of Chinese tea culture and paint technology. The Dujiangyan Irrigation System (built in BC 256) is much older than the Great Wall (built in BC 9 or 8),and it still plays an very important role in agriculture here. Besides, folk culture in the old town and beyond is colorful in its wide variety, and at the same time, Chengdu also pays heed to economic development.  With all the above saying, Chengdu is a perfect combination of historical and modern civilization.

Since ancient time, it has a nickname -- the land of abundance. People who have been here say that Chengdu is a city where you come once only and you never want to leave, I can’t agree with that more.  Its annual temperature is about 16 ℃, and its moderate climate makes citizens quite relaxed and comfortable to live here.  Plus the locals are very friendly  and hospitable to others.

Here are some itineraries I guide often:

1. Chengdu Panda Base--city explore ( Jinli Street, wide-narrow Alley, Wuhou shrine, Wenshu Monstery etc.)
2. Chengdu--Leshan Giant Buddha--Mt. Emei--Yibin Bamboo Forest
3. Chengdu--Ya'an Bifengxia Panda Base—Shangli ancient town—Dengchigou catholic church in Baoxing county(where found the first panda in the world )
4. Chengdu-Jiuzhaigou national park –Huanglong park (the world’s natural heritage sites)
5. Chengdu—Luodai ancient town--Huanglong ancient town and stream
6. Chengdu-- Dujiangyan Irrigation System— Mt. Qing Cheng

As a local person, I grow with my city, I love my hometown and now I want to introduce it to people the real and less touristic sides, I want to help people plan their trips well with friend's attitude and have a fantastic experience here. Thank you very much and looke forward to seeing you soon.

Lydia is a very nice lady. She arrived on time and took us to where we wanted to go w no problem. We had a driver and her as a tour guide for the 3 of us. It was a pleasant trip and experience for all of us. She even instructed the driver to avoid the food paparazzi around the Leshan giant Buddha area when we were followed after we got off the highway. Thanks Lydia.

I have been to Chengdu for two weeks in end of December and
I must mention what a wonderful guide Lydia was and how very helpful, considerate and professional she was. She explained everything is detail and took me to many fascinating places. She helped me with any questions I had and made sure I tasted the best of Sichuan as well.  I want to thank her very much for this as she was definitely one of the best guides I ever had .
I highly recommend Lydia as a  professional guide.

I engaged Lydia as my personal tour guide for my eight-day visit to Chengdu in October 2014.

Despite being a varsity student with time constraint on her part, Lydia spent a fair amount of time to research and draw up a suitable itinerary for me, including visits of some major attractions in Chengdu and its vicinities as well as places further away, namely Jiuzhaigou, Huang Long and Bipenggou. She planned, arranged and when necessary purchased the tickets in advance for me for the ground transportation. She also provided me with her advices for the bookings of hotel accommodations.

Lydia was responsive, knowledgeable, punctual, cheerful and very caring. She was also mindful of my budget and was very capable of getting new information along the way and refined our itinerary accordingly. Throughout our trip, I enjoyed having intellectual conversations with her on various topics of interest.

I told Lydia that I would like to try out the classic Sichuan smoked duck (樟茶鸭) at its origin. Despite being an item usually served in banquets and special events and thus not readily available, she was able to find a restaurant with this dish on its menu at a very inexpensive price.

Lydia took many pictures for me with her cell phone and before I reached home from my trip, she already had the pictures compiled into an album waiting for me in the "IN Box" of my email.

Lydia is very trustworthy without any doubt. She always adhered to her commitments. I will definitely engage her again when I visit Chengdu next time.

Lydia companied my mom and my Korea friend in the last a few days. Although I haven't met her, she was very helpful and trustworthy. She picked my friend at the airport and arranged a three-day tour in Chengdu. My friend and my mom enjoyed her company and praised her a lot. She gave many practical advices for the trip as well. I have contacted other guides. The price she gave is the most reasonable. She spoke English fluently too.

Me and my wife visited Chengdu between Sept 23-25, 2014 and Lydia was our student tour guide. We made the right choice in selecting Lydia, from among many other tour guides listed in Synotrip and Tripadvisors.

She was punctual, soft-spoken, gentle, caring and easy to communicate with. My wife sprained her knees and could not walk properly. Lydia held her left arm and helped her along for 2 full days when we went to Panda Base, Luodai Ancient Town, Jinli Street, Huanglongxi, Wu-Hou Shrine, etc. She never complained about the inconveniences caused.

She helped us saved money, when she brought us to some tourist places using train and buses (albeit a bit of inconvenience, but very cost-saving, & without missing out the attractions!)

Her charges are very reasonable.

Should I be in Chengdu again, I will definitely engage her help!
