We hired Julia for a short stay in Guangzhou in September 2012 and she made the most of our trip.  Rather than book a car for the day, we got around using taxis and the metro which she easily navigated. We were impressed by her knowledge of Guangzhou which was refreshing after getting the standard spiel from tour guides in Beijing.  She was flexible,interactive, and has a bright personality that is easy to get along with.  She felt  more like a good friend than a tour guide who advocates on your behalf to make sure you have a good visit.  We highly recommend her and will use her again. 

My wife and I had the pleasure of hiring Julia to be our guide and interpreter for one day (May 2012).  We had an unusual request for Julia – take us to my grandparent’s traditional village located outside of Guangzhou and help us explore some of my family’s heritage.  Julia had never visited this area before, but she was up for the adventure of exploring something new.  The one-day experience in my grandparent’s traditional village exceeded all of our expectations and Julia was a key reason for this success.  Overall, our experience with Julia could not have been better!

We had no previous experience hiring a private Chinese tour guide, so we were somewhat unsure of what to expect in terms of quality and reliability, especially since we are foreigners and had never traveled to Guangzhou before.  We searched for tour guides using the internet and stumbled across the Synotrip website and Julia’s profile.  She appeared friendly and of similar age to us, so we contacted her.  We live in Canada, so all of our communications with Julia were conducted via email.  Julia was very responsive to our communications, offered options and suggestions to our inquiries, and was very clear about the arrangements we agreed upon.  We found her rates to be very reasonable, including the rates for the private driver that she arranged.  After exchanging several emails, we felt very comfortable with Julia and so decided to hire her.

Julia picked us up at our hotel lobby on time and with no issue.  We had originally hired Julia for 8 hours, but the day’s events extended to 10 hours.  Julia and her driver very graciously accommodated the extra time and we compensated them accordingly.  We found Julia to be very friendly, professional, prompt, capable and considerate.  She was an excellent communicator and her English, Mandarin and Cantonese were all excellent.

Being a foreigner and not able to speak the language, we relied heavily on Julia to speak with the local people and cause things to happen.  During the entire day, we felt Julia was a very competent guide and enabled us to do and see the things that we wanted to do.  Julia and her driver even endured a short hike up a small mountain in the rain!  At the end of the day, we were extremely pleased with Julia and her driver.

Our family of four spent the day with Julia exploring Guangzhou.  She met us at our hotel at our appointed time and we set out to see some of the sights in the city.  As our teenage children were quite interested in shopping, we didn't spend too much time on seeing the city sights so Julia was able to show us to some to some  of the great shopping areas in town.  We took the metro and also taxis which are very inexpensive.  We also had a delicious lunch with Julia.  Julia was extremely patient, warm and personable and made sure we got around safely and efficiently.  She was very thorough and helpful in explaining directions and made sure we were all comfortable.  We would not hesitate to recommend Julia as a tour guide and would definitely contact her again if we visit Guangzhou in the future.  Thank you Julia.  K,V,N,A from Vancouver, BC, Canada

I spend one day in Guangzhou and was fascinated how she managed this whole day.

Julia was on time and very professional with time management and knowledge of the city . She showed me around the town and took me to the very local restaurant, which I wouldn't  find alone.

She is reliable, flexible and very friendly just nice to have around.

Julia was a very good guide, taking us all around Guangzhou for the one day that we were there.  She took special care to make sure that all our arrangements were made in advance of our arrival - hotel, transport - and when we departed for the airport.  We had a very full day, as she showed us many interesting parts of the city and provided much information on all the attractions.  We highly recommend her as a guide for anyone visiting Guangzhou.

Julia was our tour guide in Guangzhou during our trip to Southern China.  She was immediately very good with email communication and met us promptly at the train station upon our arrival.  She spoke very good English and was friendly and approachable.  She is a licensed tour guide so she doesn’t have to pay any extra entrance fees.  She was incredibly useful for translating and bargaining when shopping.  My biggest recommendation to visitors of Guangzhou is to plan your trip/itinerary and let Julia know what you want to see, including shopping.  She made some good suggestions and helped us with a Pearl River Boat cruise to finish our night when our day of touring was over.  I will definitely use her again if I travel to Guangzhou.  Thanks Julia!
