Tsopu Lake - Tsopu Valley

Tsopu Lake is also called Cuopo Lake. It is a beautiful highland lake located 150km west to Litang Xian and 80km east to Batang Xian. It is 35km north to the national highway 318 from Litang to Batang. Tsopu Lake is the name of the lake by the foot of Mt. Zhajin Jiabo. The place shares the name Tsopu and covers an area of 900 sqkm. Tsopu Lake is accessible by strong cars. Many people travel here due to its beautiful lakes, temples, prairies and mountains. It is now called the first holy lake in Kham. Niete Gangri and Zhajin Jiabo are the visible mountains from the south. The lakes include Tsola Lake, Yamo Tsogen Lake and Tsopu Lake. Tsopu is a holy place worshiped by local Tibetan people. And it is also where local people have their festivals including the horse-racing festival.

Red Rock Slide
The red rock slides are another wonders of Hailuogou Glacier Park. In the neighboring valleys like Yanzi Valley and Nanmenguan Valley, there are big slides of red rocks have been found especially the one on the way to the pass of Yajiageng. Looking from the far away, the slide looks like blood flowing from the hard rock and through the green forest and then into the riverbed.

Yarchen Gar is the biggest Tibetan non (Tibetan female Buddhists) shrine in China. Yarchen Gar is 800km west to Chengdu and 120km southwest to Ganzi Xian. It is home to over 20,000 nons regularly. Yarchen Gar was built in 1985 and functioned as a Buddhist school. Yarchen Gar is located in Baiyu of Garze Prefecture. It is located 102km southwest to Ganzi Xian and 122km east to Baiyu Xian on the Ganbai Road. Yarchen Gar is a complex of Buddhist schools, temples and monasteries and meditation cubes. Behind the Changqu River sets the biggest Juemu Dorm in Tibet. Juemu is the Tibetan name for non. It shares the same fame of Larung Gar of Sertar. Yarchen Gar is a Nymmapa Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Except its stunning size and color, there are also rituals of Yarchen Gar including ritual dances, 100-day meditation festival, etc. 

Nicknamed “Bandit Monastery” by botanist and explorer Joseph Rock, Tshonggo Temple is a small Tibetan temple that was nicknamed the “Bandit Monastery” by botanist and explorer Joseph Rock. Rock explored northwest China and Tibet extensively in the 1920s for his work with Harvard University’s Museum of Comparative Zoology and National Geographic.

This superb adventure in remote China combines the experience of real Tibetan culture with a spectacular trek through the beautiful valleys of Riwoche and Moxi to the Monastery below the ice-fluted shark's fin of Minya Konka (7556m), the world's third highest peak outside the Himalaya. Our week long trek begins just south of Kangding. the 'Gateway to Tibet'. We make a steady ascent of the Riwoche valley with its soaring cliffs and fast river torrents. At the head of this valley we enter a high grazing area where we will encounter the temporary settlements of the nomadic yak herders. Climbing to cross the 4900 metre Bhuchu La, we then descend the beautiful Moxi valley eventually entering forests of rhododendron, juniper, birch and oak which in October become a riot of Autumnal colours. We stay overnight in the Konka monastery and the climax of our trek is the climb to the ridge above for unrivalled views of Minya Konka and the Daxue range of 6000-metre snowy peaks. Although Minya Konka is the undoubted centre-piece of this great trekking holiday to a little visited mountain region of Sichuan, there is much more to the holiday than this, admittedly, superbly photogenic mountain.

If you want to see real Tibetan culture, this is where you should come. This holiday will give you an insight into the rural life of the Kham region and also of the Minyak people who are an ethnic group distinct again from their Khampa neighbours. Combined with a fascinating journey through Sichuan province, with its many spectacular monasteries, gigantic 'hill paintings' and the great Mani Pile of Tagong, and sightseeing in the city of Chengdu, including the Pandas at the world famous breeding centre. This is a world class trekking holiday and also a real adventure and travel experience in an area visited by very few Westerners.
