Said to be founded in 627, this present mosque dates from the Qing dynasty and is a must visit for me, even as a non Muslim.
The architecture is simply stunning and absolutely worth seing.
Make sure you dress suitebly if you come and visit this religious site or you might get refused to enter this holy place.

This trip is highly recomended if you are in Guangzhou. It takes about 2 and half hours to get there and longer to get back if you get caught in peak traffic but it's so worth it.

Eat at Home Restaurant for the freshest food you can imagine. We had steamed chicken, vegatable soup, and spicy tofu and the best tea I've had anywhere. The owners were so accomodating and pleased for the business.

Guzhen is true to its name as the “Capital of LED in China”. Crossing the boarder of Foshan to Zhongshan, a vast array of LED factories, wholesale markets, shops came to our eyes. There are lots of LED markets in different sizes locating in Guzhen. Most are direct from factories in town or in Henglan town nearby.

Shangxiajiu is composed of the unique and historical architecture based on Tong Lau and teahouses, featuring the characteristics of European and Chinese styles. It has a group of old famous stores, such as the Guangzhou Garment Store, the Herring Shoes and Hats Store, and the Dalu Clock and Watch Store. It also has some well-known restaurants, including the Guangzhou Restaurant, the Taotaoju Restaurant, Wenchang Chicken, and Taotao Ginger and Onion Chicken.

The garden highlights the original Lingnan culture and customs by shaping Lingnan landscape and displaying the real living scenes of common people. Just spending one day there, tourists can get a comprehensive view of ancient Lingnan folkways.

Lingnan Impression Garden houses many traditional Lingnan architectural groups. The residences are built beside river. Long lanes, primitive gates, spectacular oyster shell walls, exquisite windows, winding streams and clear ponds are all elements of typical Lingnan water towns.

The garden gathers a great deal of intangible cultural heritage such as Guangdong embroidery, pearl embroidery, painted porcelain, wood carvings, ash carvings, stone carvings and brick carvings, etc. Besides appreciating these wonderful crafts, you can also learn from the master craftsman, who will teach you to make some simple crafts hand by hand.

Lingnan Impression Garden is also a good place to look back upon the past of Guangzhou. The iron toys, comic books and games like rolling hoops and throwing sandbags are prone to arouse local people’s nostalgia for the childhood. Besides, you can see the police station, county government, newspaper office, bank and cinema in the old times. If you like adventures, the garden won’t let you down.
