Until the Japanese seized it in 1941, Shameen, now called Shamian, had been the home for the foreign residents of Canton since 1863. Before that time it was no more than a patch of sand used as a garbage dump. It is said that the remaining foreigners in 1941 were piled onto boats at what is now the luxurious White Swan Hotel and dispatched by the Japanese to concentration camps in northeast China.
In the previous era, addresses were either B.C., or F.C., for British or French concessions, the primary divisions of the island, for it was Britain and France who were chiefly responsible for its development.. There was room for banks, offices with residences, country clubs, schools and churches on the island, many of whose residents would leave it only for quick shopping excursions in the nearby city. Chen Clan Academy is a tourist spot in Lingnan with strong cultrual and artistic features. 

In 1988 it was declared an Important Heritage Site under State Protection by the State Department. 

The Chen Clan Academy was finished in 1894 with the money donated by Chen's family from 72 countries in Guangdong Province. Chen's family built up this temple to sacrifice to the ancestors and encourage their offspring to study hard like Mr. Chen. 

The most amazing attractions in the temple are the various superb carving. They are in forms of pottery, stone, brick, wood. 

Chen Clan Academy has the Guangdong Folk Arts Museum established in 1959. The collection comprises ceramics, embroidery, papercut, carvings and lacquer.

Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain(locally known as White Clouds Mountain) is located in north of Guangzhou City, China. It is one of the first 4 A Grade interest places in China. With an area of 28 square kilometers, it is clustered round by more than 30 ridges. Its highest peak is Moxing Ridge, 382 meters above the sea.

Guangzhou is a long-history city, and it was founded since the Qin and Han Dynasties 2220 years ago. But Baiyun Mountain was well-known for its nice scenery even earlier than the foundation of Guangzhou City. And now it is called "Green Lung" of Guangzhou.

There are many legends or stories about Baiyun Mountain. If you are interested in them and you want to visit a nice scenery, I suggest you come here and have a wonderful visit.

Take bus(many roads) to Baiyun West Gate Station. Or take taxi.
