Wenhua Street is the Foreigners` Street in Kunming. There are some good restautant here. You can taste Japanese cooking, Korean cuisine and absolutely all kinds of local delicacies of Yunnan. You can not only have your meal here, but also do some shopping. And there are many foreigners here. Some of them have been in Kunming for more than one year. They will give you some good advice about how to enjoy the days in Kunming. You can spend a whole afternoon here, chatting and relaxing. For there are some good cafés and bars here. A cozy atmosphere, decent food, live music and cheap margaritas make Behind the Wall a popular hang-out, especially with the foreign student population. Inside, Behind the Wall’s three rooms are linked by over-sized arched doorways, and provide seating for groups of two to ten. Mexican, Latin and Greek cuisine is served. The drink menu is varied and not too expensive by Nanjing standards - margaritas are served for only 15 Yuan from Sunday to Thursday. Live music is played on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from about 8:00pm to 11:00pm.

How to Get There

Behind the Wall is located near the Nanjing University Campus just off of Shanghai Lu. From Shanghai Lu, turn into the small Nanxiu Cun (南秀村, nánxiùcūn) and look to the left. It is up the stairs that lead behind the wall of the alley side. Swede & Kraut Restaurant is a little further down the alley.

The streets around Ba Yi Lu (武昌八一路, 武汉大学正门口东) are especially good and the Festival Bar is currently popular among Wuhan's foreign students. A similar place is the Sunshine Bar near the Shangri La hotel. The Sunshine Bar is a bit more expensive than the bars around the universities.
