Independent memorial hall was built after Srilanka became independent from British rule in 1948.the independent hall is situated in Colombo 07 region at the independent square.

the land situated independent memorial hall is very special to the country as more than a hundred srilankans with budhist monks were shot dead in a protest by British solders at this land.
