Ancient Chinese Beauty --Wangzhaojun

  • There is a classical instrument which is called the Chinese lute by the West, but in China, people prefer to use its real name, Pi Pa(琵琶). If someone plays a nostalgic theme on a Pi Pa on a rainy night, you would touch a blue soul who tries to tell you a sentimental story of a beautiful girl, Wang Zhaojun(王昭君), who was good at playing Pi Pa 2,000 years ago.

The doleful tale began at the end of the worst nightmare of the Han Dynasty(汉朝). You know the enormous threat which came from the northern nomadic tribes had been a sword of Damocles(达摩克利斯之剑) hanging over the old agricultural empires built by the Han nationality. However, with the arrival of spring, the king of Xiong Nu(匈奴) made an important visit to Chang An(长安), the capital of the Han Empire. This handsome king hoped to make a marriage with a princess of the empire, and this proposal was approved with Han Yuan Di(汉元帝), the Emperor of the Han Dynasty, with much pleasure.
