1. Lama Temple

Lama Temple was built in 1694 by Qing dynasty ‘s emperor of Kangxi for his 4th son Yongzheng who later succeeded to the throne as residence. Later Emperor Yongzheng changed its residence into Lamasery. One purpose was to commemorate his dead father; another purpose was to make good relationship with Tibetans. It is largest Buddhist temple in Beijing with many pieces of big vivid Buddha statues. It is a most popular place for Chinese to pray to Buddha in Beijing as well as an ideal place to learn about Chinese religion belief. In the rear part of Lamasery is the Temple of Ten-Thousand –Happiness, a huge future Buddha statue was erected inside. This statue was carved out of a single trunk of white sandalwood. It is 26 meters high,18 meters above the ground and 8 meters under the ground and 8 meters in diameter. It took 3 years to transport this huge tree to Beijing from Tibet and another 3 years to carve the tree into a statue. It is the biggest standing Buddha statue inside house in the world.    

2. Hutong Rickshaw Tour

The construction of Hutong started 800 years ago by Mongolians. The original meaning of Hutong is water wells, now Hutongs mean back streets or small allies Beijing used to have 6,000 Hutongs and 4 million people used to live there, but now only 2,000 of them were left.
