Gulou ( Drum Tower) on Gulou Hillock was built in the 15th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming(1382), on a large scale with grand magnoficence. It used to be where the drum was stuck to announce the time. When the Qing came to power, only the lower watch tower remained.
