Renminbi 4th Series

Just recently, I went to the bank to exchange and withdraw currency and for the first time (in quite a long time), I saw the teller counting some old Chinese currency notes. I politely asked the teller if I could swap my current 100RMB note for an older note and they were happy to do so. 

When I was a child, these 100 RMB notes were few and far between and represented a significant amount of money. We could live off 100 RMB for a few weeks eating at home! Nowadays, a 100 RMB note would be lucky to buy you and a friend a meal at a reasonable restaurant in many cities. Comparing the notes, as well as daily lifestyles from when I was younger to now, the development and change within China has been unbelievable.  

Information about my 100 RMB note:

• Produced during implementation of the '4th Series' of RMB
• 4th Series was implemented between 1987 & 1997
• This 4th Series Consisted of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 50, 100 RMB notes
• My note was the 1990 version, and it was issued to the public in 1992
• The four people on one side of the note are MAO ZEDONG, ZHOU ENLAI, LIU SHAOQI & ZHU DE. All were very prominent in the establishment of today's China.

Finally, I intend to keep this 100 RMB note as long as possible..who knows, maybe in 50 years time it might be worth a lot more :)
