Obelisk of Montevideo is a 40 meters tall obelisk that is constructed on the intersection of 18 de Julio and Artigas Boulevard. The obelisk which is made of granite has three bronze statues on each side. It is surrounded by a water fountain. The three statues represent law, freedom and force. It was erected to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Constitution of Uruguay. The obelisk is the work of Juan Zorrilla de San Martín and it was inaugurated in 1938.
