About this place
St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church is a Spanish monastery which was built in Segovia, Spain in the 12th century. William Randolph Hearst bought the monastery in 1925 and had it dismantled. Amazingly as it sounds, the monastery was actually shipped from Spain to New York and afterwards to Miami where today it is a tourist attraction. Due to Hearst´s financial problems, the pieces of buildings were partially sold while the rest of it lay in the New York warehouse for 26 years. After being transported to Miami the pieces of the monastery were composed piece by piece on today´s grounds.
