Phanom Rung Stone Castle (Prasat Hin Phanom Rung)

Phanom Rung Historical Park is situated in Buriram Province. Prasat Hin Phanom Rung is a Khmer temple complex which is situated on Phanom Rung Hill on an extinct volcano. It was built in 10th to 13th century and it is dedicated to Shiva. The reconstruction of this extremely valuable sight took 17 years. Besides the main tower there is a minor sanctuary built with sandstone, two brick sanctuaries, and several more buildings which were used as libraries. The park has the largest number of Khmer monuments in Thailand.
