About this place

During the 13th century Sukhothai was the Thai capital city, founded by King Ramkhamhaeng. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. The park covers 70 square kilometers (27 sq miles), and it is divided into five zones. The central zone was the royal part of the city. The modern Sukhothai is situated few miles away from the ruins of ancient Sukhothai. The Park, except the remains of Sukhothai contains the remains of its two vassal towns Si Satchanalai, and Kampheang Phet. The park also offers the possibility to rent a bike, or take a tram, so the guests can move easily through the park.
