Contemporary Chinese art has officially exploded onto the scene and with big name artists comes big name investors and collectors. Jumping on the bandwagon to capitalize on Shanghai’s emerging art scene is New York-based James Cohan Gallery. The gallery, is not quietly slipping into the city’s art scene - with a 280 square meter space and an adjoining meditation garden for outdoor sculptures and performances, James Cohan Gallery has made itself a ringleader in bringing western art to China. With six annual exhibitions, the gallery, housed in a historic Art Deco building, presents their impressive roster of artists, which includes: Folkert de Jong, Nam June Paik, Roxy Paine, Yinka Shonibare, Robert Smithson, Fred Tomaselli, Bill Viola, Wim Wenders and many more.
