Wei Shan Old Town

Home of the Yi and Hui (Moslem), Wei shan old town is actually densely inhabited by Han Chinese people. In Ming dynasty the sacret hill near-by Shibao Shan was transformed into a Taoist center. Many of the temples date hundreds of years in history, some claim the oldest camellia tree can be seen there. This is a 2 days tour leaving from Dali with one night in Wei shan old town.

Wei Bao Shan is one of the most important mountains for Taoism. Wei shan is a slow, quiet old town which is 1.5 hours bus ride from Dali. 
Travel to Wei Shan Old Town from Dali in the morning by car, wander around the town and have lunch. Head to Wei Bao Shan to visit the Taoist temples, returning to Dali in the late afternoon.

Wei Shan Old Town is a quite old town south of Dali. It was capital of Nan Zhao Kingdom. Today, Yi minority lives here. The town keeps the simple basic life style. 15Km further south is home for "Dao" religon. There are temples scattering around the hill.  Tour starts from Dali in the morning and ends in the evening. There is a little bit of trekking in the afternoon up hill. Minimun two person.
