Shanghai Library

Shanghai Library is an advanced, comprehensive public library, the first ever in the country that combines public library services with SciTech and industry information research functions.

Initially established in 1952, Shanghai Library was previously located in the "Racecourse Builing" on Nanjing Road.

The current new building opened to the public in 1996, and soon became a landmark of the city. It claims to be one of the ten best libraries in the world.
