Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower Sightseeing area

 The Oriental Pear TV Tower Area belongs to Pudong New Area,which is the milestone of China’s reform and open-up policy.

 As we know,the Huangpu River is the mother river of Shanghai.It divides Shanghai into two parts,the western part and the eastern apart.Pudong literally means “east bank of the Haungpu River”.

 The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is the first landmark building erected in Pudong,so the name of the whole sightseeing area is derived from it.

 In the 1980s,Shanghai referred mainly to the western part of the Huangpu River because at that time the eastern part still remained the countryside except for a narrow industrial strip.Ferry boats were the only means for people to cross the Huangpu River.

 On April 18th,1990,the State Council declared the opening and development of Pudong.In 1993,the administration of Pudong New Area was set up .Since then,Pudong has gone through great changes and has become a modern urban district,an icon of Shanghai.

 Now Pudong New Area covers an area of 1,210 square kilometers with the population of 5 million.

 So far, four state-level development zones have been set up.They are Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone,Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone,Jinqiao Export-processing Zone and Zhanghiang Hi-tech Park.Besides,there is a city-level development zone:Suqiao Modern Agriculture Development Zone.In September ,2013,China Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone was set up in Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone.

 The development of Pudong has brought new energy to Shanghai.Among all these special economic development zones,the location of Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone is the best.It faces the Bund directly.Currently there are more than 30  commercial buildings over 25 stories.It is an ideal place to develop tourism and business.The Oriental Pearl TV Tower Sightseeing Area is just situated in it.
