Beijing Zoo Ⅱ

Originally as a park before 1906, the Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) had it converted into a farm as well as a zoo and opened it to the public in 1908. The zoo suffered from a period of hard times and lost all its glory with only 12 monkeys, 2 parrots and one blind emu remained before the founding of People's Republic of China. Since independence, more animals were well-bred and collected. The zoo was reopened to public in 1950 and the number of animals is on the rise.
