Grand Council
Grand Council was the supreme policymaking body in the mid and late Qing Dynasty. At its peak, its power surpassed that of the Cabinet.
Hall of Mental Cultivation
Since Emperor Yongzheng moved his bedchamber to the Hall of Mental Cultivation, it had served as the dwelling place for Qing emperors. The hall was renovated and enlarged during the reign of Emperor Qianlong and became a multifunction building complex for the emperor to study and dwell. There are two bronze lions abutting the entrance to the Hall of Mental Cultivation.
Hall of Supreme Principle
One of the Six Western Palaces, the Hall of Supreme Principle has a plaque bearing inscriptions by Emperor Qianlong. During the reign of Emperors Tongzhi and Guangxu, Empress Dowager Cixi lived here.
