About this place

The Bund gets its Anglo-Indian name from the embankments built up to discourage flooding(a ban is an embankment in Hindi). The Bund area refers to a 1500-meter stretch along the Huangpu River, running from the Waibaidu Bridge in the north to Yan’an Road in the south.

The best way to get acquainted with Shanghai is to take a stroll along the Bund; it’s a showcase of the city’s semi-colonial past and its transformation in the new era.

Highlights

★ Stroll along the Bund promenade, and capture the skyline of China, as almost all of the skyscrapers in Shanghai located in Lujiazui Financial and Trade Center, are standing in front of you, across Huangpu River. It’s the best scenic spot of Shanghai.Spike Jonze came to Shanghai and made the film her, it's said because he thought the skyline here was gorgeous.

★ It’s at its best  in the early morning, when locals are out practising taichi; and at its best in the early evening, as Night-shanghai is Light-shanghai, as well as the most gorgeous night-view in China.

★Take a river cruise to enjoy both sides in the evening.

★ It’s titled as “World architecture gallery ”, and once was the wall-street of the Far East; and the historic architectures house a profusion of exclusive restaurants bars, shops and hotels.
