Kyiv
Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine and it's history goes back over 1500 years, was named after Kyi, the elder of the three brothers who created the city with their sister, Lybid.
Kyiv had great history, starting from IX century with Kyivan Rus and ending with the modern European city today. About the first Ukrainian state Kyivan Rus you can read more from my tour "The Kievan Rus Park". This place is worth of visiting for sure!
Kyiv have a numerous amount of historical monuments, churches, bbuildings and museums, that are the true ecidence of it's historical power! One example of this is the Golden Gateway, a unique sample of Old Russian military architecture, that is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Another example is the St. Sophia Cathedral, in which wonderful Byzantine frescos survive until today. There is also the St. Michael Cathedral, famous for its shimmering mosaics. And, of course, there is Kyiv's Pechersk Lavra, a stunning monastery complex spread on the high Dnieper banks.
Khreshchatyk is the main street of Kyiv, it is full of different shops and places of interest!! Once comming here you will fall in love with Kyiv for ever!
