Barbie Shanghai
Coming in as a world-first, Shanghai has been chosen to be the home of Barbie's retail debut. As the girlie brand's flagship, the six-level store includes three gourmet outlets, a Spa, a Design Centre and fittingly, a Fashion Runway. Headed by David Laris, a high-level international team – including New York-based Slade Architectxcure and fashion designer Vera Wang – was involved in the creation of the Barbie Shanghai flagship, which opened in March 2009. Even if you're not a fan of Barbie or the colour pink, this fantasy-like Barbie-themed destination is worth a visit for the design and sheer girlyess alone.
