Wa ethnic Dage show

Dage show of the Wa people is staged during the Lesa Festival (Spring Festival), joined by both old and young people. Generally speaking, Dage of the Wa people is only organised during the Spring Festival and kicks off at about four in the afternoon, lasting day and night.

When the most respectable elder villager steps into the fairground, different musical instruments and pyrotechnics will begin and all the villagers will swarm into the arena to dance. At the centre of the fairground, people usually arrange a bamboo rod for hanging assorted foods, and set afire a bonfire around it. Besides, some bamboo baskets are also prepared to hold foods for the dancers and guests to enjoy.

When the leading dancer (the most respectable elder villager) plays the Lusheng instrument, people will dance around him to the rhythms of different musical instruments such as gongs, cymbals, and Lusheng.
