Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong
The Island Shang is like the veteran of the Hong Kong accommodation scene, with its 56 floor structure long-standing as a permanent fixture within Hong Kong’s skyscraper family. Located in the city centre, on top of one of best shopping malls in Hong Kong, this hotel has efficiency down to an art. The hotel boasts the world’s largest Chinese silk landscape painting, which spans the wall of its 16-story glass-topped atrium. With 771 chandeliers scattered throughout, there are stunning views of the Hong Kong harbour and Victoria Peak on either side of the hotel. Of course, as one would imagine there are also some stunning dining outlets, with the eight venues including the award-winning Restaurant Petrus on the 56-floor; Nadaman, with its jet-fresh sushi; and one of the best alfresco venues in town, the Pool Deck.
