Head for the Bank of China to exchange money, do international wire transfers, open bank accounts, use an ATM to withdraw from overseas accounts, or just hang out and haggle with the sketchy money changers in the lobby.  Once you open a bank account here, you can withdraw money from any Bank of China branch with your new Chinese ATM card. Bank accounts with ATM cards are best suited to those living in China, not so much for travelers. The Bank of China always has English-speaking staff on hand who can assist you with your need.  Just go in, take a left, grab a number ticket from the machine, sit down and wait until your ticket number appears above one of the teller windows.  For those looking to make a bank transfer, sit by the left most desk in the main hall.  English signs on the desks describe their services.
