Department of Exit-Entry Administration of Public Security (PSB)
At the Department of Exit-Entry Administration of Public Security, commonly known as the PSB, you can bump heads with people from around the world. I never knew there were so many foreigners in Jinan until I went there. In any case, you can apply for extensions, residence permits, re-entry visas, changes of type of visa, or simply make inquiries about your visas here.
The officers on duty are helpful and enjoy speaking English. The staff here usually speak very competent English. They’ll need at least one passport-size photo from you so either come prepared, or have your photo taken there. Visa extensions can range from 200 to 400 yuan on up, so be sure to bring enough money.
Whatever you do, don’t overstay your visa in China without getting an extension. The fine can exceed 1000 yuan per day. The PSB officers can be intimidating when they get angry, which will likely be the case if your visa is expired.
