Old castles on the Great Wall

In the Ming Dynasty, Datong was one of the nine borer towns and was strategically important.

The inside and beyond the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty within the territory of Datong has a total length over 400 kilometers. In the Ming Dynasty ,the first side and second side of the Great Wall were first built for 513.6 kilometers, of which the most preserved ones are the impregnable pass and fortress, The Wining –victory Castle in Xinrong District, the border ancient twin, Xinping Castle in Tianzhen County, the Great Wall Fortress, Guarding-Pass Castle in Yanggao County, and the Great wall town, Guarding-Border Castle are available for tourists. The existed ancient Great Wall in Datong is made of Packed soil with strong wall body. 　　Situated at the juncture of Shanxi ,Hebei and Inner Mongolia, Xinping Ancient Town is located at the northeast tip of Tianzhen County ,where four ancient Great Walls built in Zhao, North Wei ,Han ,and Ming dynasties have still existed ,together with the historic sites and famous residence such as the Emperor of Heaven′Pavilion, Regional commander mansion, shops and Imperial Scholar′ s mansion.
