...Flower Fair (花市) is a traditional cultural activity unique to people in Guangzhou during the Spring Festival. It usually starts several days before the Spring Festival till the midnight of the New Year’s Eve.
The origin of flower fairs can be traced back 500 years. From then on, flower fairs were held in Guangzhou during the Spring Festival every year. There is an old saying there, “No flower fairs, no Spring Festival.”
The Flower Fair has been regularly held since 1920 and the size has been growing ever since. It is now split into eight sections with the largest being located on Xihu and jiaoyu Road in Yuexiu District, Liwan North Road in Liwan District, and on Jiangnan West Road in the Haizhu Area. During the festival, all of Guangzhou is decorated with flowers, many crafted into miniature landscapes.
During the fair, most families will buy miniature tangerine trees for their homes. In Chinese culture, the tangerine symbolizes good luck and wealth, so the trees are placed in the home for Spring Festival. Also during the Flower fair, traditional Chinese performances are held, as well as painting and calligraphy demonstrations.
The fair is held at the selected streets of each district. The streets will then be restricted for pedestrians only. There is a huge arch with colorful decors at the entrance representing the animal of the year or the characteristics of the district.
One of the biggest flower fair at Xihulu , it is convenient to get there when you get a metro , get off at Gongyuanqian Metro Station ,Exit C

Exchanging currency in China is a very straightforward transaction. The Yuan, or Renminbi, is the currency for China. Renminbi translates as “The People’s Currency.” Exchange rates for Renminbi are established each day in China and should be displayed wherever currency is exchanged. The rate fluctuates from day to day so do not be surprised.
Instructions
1 : Go directly to the bank at the international airport before departure(Guangzhou Baiyun Airport). This may allow visitors to leave the airport in China quicker, but the exchange rates may not be as favorable as it would be in China.
2: Convert to Renminbi after arriving. The four banks with currency exchanges at major international airports in China are Bank of China, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the Agricultural Bank of China, and the Construction Bank of China. These national banks all have branches in the major international arrival airports in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
3: Have passport in hand when converting currency in China. The official currency exchange form in China requires the teller to see visitor’s passports and record the identification number. Some banks may make a photo copy of the passport as well. Fill in the currency exchange sheet, place it, the passport and dollars in the teller window and wait.
4: Wait until arriving at the hotel to convert large sums. Most three star or better hotels have a currency exchange counter. The taxi driver from the airport will expect payment, and the counter may not be open all day, so ask upon arrival.
5: Go to a bank. There are banks all over China open seven days a week, except for major holidays. Some are very small branch offices with limited services and others are impressive edifices. Many banks have a system for taking a number, and display the numbers above the teller windows. There are different windows for different functions, but visitors will be directed to the correct window.

There are no guarantees that it is definitely safe to travel to and within Guangzhou. Thieves and bad people exist around the world. If you just behavior as what you do in your own country, or if you have friends in Guangzhou to accompany you, this will help insure you have a safe visit.
Tip:
When you arrive at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, do not accept solicitations for rides to the city. Sometimes, some people may stand at the arrival area and ask if you need a taxi. These are illegal operators who use unmarked vehicles, or charge you a fee, offer you a phony receipt, and then arrange a taxi that will charge you again. They usually cost a lot more than licensed taxis since many travelers do not know the cost of airport transportation.
