学院现有教职工近150人，其中专任教师100余人，具有教授职称的12人、副教授等副高级职称的46人，硕士生导师40多人，50%以上的专任教师具有博士学位。此外，学院还有数十位来自海内外高校和企业的兼职教师。
学院重视学科建设与科研工作，拥有校级工程中心1个、创新团队1个、重点学科5个。经过几年的不懈努力，在计算机科学与技术、控制科学与工程、信息与通信工程、机械工程、电气工程等学科领域有了较大发展。
学院自2003年以来开展广泛的国际交流与合作，经过10来年的努力和实践，已经与国外10多所高等院校和教育机构建立了合作交流关系，开展了学生交流、教师交流、教学合作和科研合作等。

学院现有生物科学、生物技术、化学、应用化学、化学工程与工艺、食品科学与工程、环境工程、园艺（中荷合作办学）、科学教育等9个本科专业，涉及到理学、工学、农学、教育学4个学科门类。本科学生总数2200余人。
学院现有4个一级学科硕士点：化学、化学工程与工艺、生物学、生态学，以及环境科学二级学科硕士点，3个学科教学论硕士招生方向：化学教育、生物教育、科学教育，环境科学博士点（与旅游学院联合）。硕士研究生总数700余人。
