Nanxin Granary Food Culture Street is another cultural street in Beijing with distinctive features, which can compete with the Shanghai New World. Every restaurant, tea house and club in the street is visited by many customers. There are art galleries and Latin dancing clubs in the ancient granaries and pseudo-classic architectural complex, with some Chinese and foreign specialty restaurants and bars as their neighbors, among which, McDonald's, Friday's, Da Dong Roast Duck Restaurant and BENZ Car Exhibition Hall have their popularity outside. The culture and arts market combine the "culture" of Nanxincang and the "business" together. Here will be the new gathering place which integrates art appreciation and delicious food.

Nanxin Granary, a historic site located on what is now Dongsi Shitiao, was a storehouse for grain meant exclusively to be served to the royal family during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. It was built in 1409 during the reign of the Yongle Emperor (1403-1424) on the foundations of the Yuan Dynasty’s (120-1368) Beitai Granary. This makes it as old as The Forbidden City. The imperial granaries measured its volume in ao, which initially meant three store rooms and later, five. In its heyday, Nanxin Granary had 76 ao, the most in a Qing granary. The structure still has nine ao, making it the largest and best-preserved imperial granary in the country. Today, the vicinity of the granary’s has taken on a new life as a "culture street": it has become a base to more than cultural organizations, artist studios, tea houses, shops and restaurants. Some portions of the granary have been converted into warehouses.

Beijing's First Waterfall is located in Miyun District in Beijing's suburb. Five big characters “the First Waterfall in Beijing" are engraved on the cliff to the left of the Waterfall, which is 62.5m high, 28m higher than "the Waterfall to the Heaven" close to it in the Heilong Pond. The Waterfall is active throughout the year and its flow rate is about half a cubic meter even in the dry seasons of winter and spring.

The source of the Waterfall is the Liu River, which originates in Yunmeng Mountain in Huairou District, converging from all mountain springs and creeks in the course of flow along the east foot of the Yunmeng Mountain, washing out and creating a series of natural sights along the way. For example, the "Connected Six Ponds", the "Jade-Splashing Waterfall", the "Waterfall Hung in the Air" and the "Nostalgic Pond", are all "masterpieces" of the Liu River. The First Waterfall in Beijing is the last sight of the Liu River before it merges into the Bai River. The dark green and transparent pond water is smashed by the waterfall-like flying pearls and splashed jades and looks like flying dragons and tigers from nearby and fog and smoke from afar. When the sunlight shines into the valley, it presents a ring of light in seven colors, a rainbow on the earth. The roar of water echoes in the vacant valley and the powerful and majestic momentum of the waterfall cause people to linger on in amazement.

The "Blue Dragon Pond", the name of a pond under the "First Waterfall in Beijing", is 8 m at its deepest. After it's filled to capacity, water overflows into the Bai River, which is one of the water supply sources of the Miyun Reservoir.

High peaks in the scenic spot pierce directly into the sky-like huge swords and vividly depict different feelings. The scenic spot is 3 km in length and its drop in elevation is 200 m. Scenes change and different colors are presented when you move and unique ponds connected with each other seem masterpieces of superlative craftsmanship. All tourists visiting hate to leave the site.

Featured Attractions:

Although Jingdu Diyipu serves as the major attraction within this scenic area, this is not the only interesting spot that you may visit when you are here. The mountain views within this scenic area are also very impressive. All across the site's 3 kilometer length, you are able to see the various shapes of mountains. The scenery might be different in every step. You might not be about to control yourself in taking more and more pictures whilst visiting.

The Great Wall is not a continuous wall. The wall exists in sections and these sections don't form a continuous line. Most of the bits of the remaining wall have their own names. Usually their names are given with regard to their geographic location, historical factors or out of necessity related to promotion of local tourism. Yunmengshan Great Wall is such a name because it is located to the east of Yunmengshan Mountain. Yunmengshan literally means “a mountain always covered with mist”. Yunmengshan is locally referred to as the “Huangshan of North China” due to its stunning view.

Yunmengshan Great Wall is a small stretch of the Great Wall around Beijing. It was built under General Qi Jiguang during the Ming Dynaty (1368-1644). To its west is located Mutianyu Great Wall, and to its east are Gubeikou Great Wall and Jinshanling Great Wall.

There are still 3 forts (watch towers) and one beacon tower on the Yunmengshan Great Wall . The beacon tower is located on the top of the mountain.

One big difference between Yunmenshan Great Wall and other formal and standard stretches of the Great Wall is the construction of the Wall itself. Yunmengshan Great Wall was constructed from rocks and stones carried from the local mountains, while Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall are made of the bricks carried from the official kilns.
