Why review a Thai restaurant that is rather difficult to find and whose remote location makes leaving a chore as well? Because Moonlight Corner Thai Cuisine serves some of the best Thai food in China!
The restaurant imports its ingredients from Thailand every week, so that its four Thai chefs can comfortably concoct the freshest, tastiest, and most authentic Thai dishes around. Located literally in the golf driving range more than 1 km into the Expo Gardens, Moonlight Corner is certainly not easy to get to and from.
Taxi drivers are not familiar with the location and there are none waiting around to escort patrons home after their meal. Yet the food, elegant atmosphere, great service, and magnificent view is truly worth the headache of transportation to and from this restaurant.
Directions: Moonlight Corner is located at 3 World Horticultural Expo Garden North Gate. If possible I would suggest riding a bike or having a friend with a car take you to this restaurant. Otherwise, take a taxi through the north gate of the Expo Garden. Drive up the windy road for a few minutes until you come to a T intersection.
Turn right at the T, and then you will soon see the driving range on your right-hand side. The restaurant is upstairs in the driving range. If you took a taxi to the restaurant, you might have to walk all the way back to the north gate of the Expo Garden to catch another cab home. Otherwise, try asking one of the kind people at the front desk of the driving range to call the north gate, so the guard can waive a taxi in for you if you are lucky.

This underground bar offers two pool tables, a stage for live music (on occasion), plenty of area to sit, a dance floor that gets busy on Friday and Saturday, and rotating DJs that spin different kinds of music throughout the week. Cocktails are cheap but could stand to be a bit stronger. Also, beware of the smell on the way in. Overall, good times can be had at the Speakeasy, especially if lots of alcohol is in the mix.

The Speakeasy is located on Dongfeng Xi Lu under an internet cafe, down the road south of where Jianshi Lu and Wenlin Jie intersect. Jianshi Lu becomes Dongfeng Xi Lu at that point.

The Shen’s Garden is located at Luxun Middle Street, about 200 meters away from the Luxun Native Place. This garden boasts more than 800 years of history. Shen is the family name of the garden’s former owner, hence the name, "The Shen’s Garden". This garden is also known as the Love Garden, in accordance with one classic love story. Lu You (1125-1210), one of China's most famous poets, actually authored more poems than any other poet in Chinese history, nearly 10,000! In the year 1151 Lu You met his lover Tang Wan in this very garden, and then composed a poem on the wall in the garden. In the Chinese tradition, parents are responsible for the marriages of their children. Young adults were not necssarily permitted to marry to the one he or she most desired. Sadly, Lu You and his lover suffered the same fate as they too were not allowed to marry. Their last date was spent in The Shen's Garden, so visitors come to the Shen’s Garden not only for the beautiful ambiance, but also to understand this heartbreaking love story. The Shen’s Garden is an obvious symbol of love, so young people often come here to display their love to one another.

The ducks were originally roasted in a conventional convection oven until Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) when this dish became a delicacy in the imperial menu and were highly regarded by emperors and other members of the ruling classes. The ducks used during this period were a special breed namely the White Beijing Duck and a new method of cooking was employed, by suspending the ducks over the flame in an open oven. These two traditional methods of cooking have resulted in the two major present day schools of roast duck preparation.
