Day 1: Hanoi – Ninh Binh ( L/D)

Ninh Binh is also called Halong Bay on land, due to its karst limestone cliffs which seemingly grow out of rice paddies. You will visit the Trang An Grottoes by boarding a small rowing sampan – or flat-bottomed boat – and glide through a seemingly bizarre landscape. You’ll pass right through the grottoes and be amazed with nature’s work in this part of the world. Afterwards, you will visit Hoa Lu, Vietnam’s first capital under the reign of the Dinh Dynasty. At the end of the day, rest and relax or take a bicycle tour to explore the surroundings on your own and witness a spectacular sunset.

Pu Luong Nature Reserve

Day 2: Ninh Binh – Pu Luong nature reserve (B/L/D)

Today, you’ll travel from Ninh Binh to Pho Doan, where you can then continue your journey into Pu Luong Nature Reserve either on the back of a motorbike or an ox cart. On arrival at your homestay, you’ll take an easy trek around the minority villages in the area, and hike through the main evergreen forest in the reserve and learn about the diverse flora and fauna of the region. There are reportedly at least 1,109 plant species growing inside the reserve, along with 84 mammals, 162 birds and 158 butterfly species. You then continue on until you return to your homestay for a hearty dinner.

Day 3: Pu Luong – Hanoi (B/L)

Soft Trek through the Nature Reserve

After a hearty breakfast, you’ll start an easy treck back towards where the car is parked, passing waterfalls and Minority Villages en route and indulge in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

On arrival in Pho Doan, your car will take you to Hanoi.
