Zhengyang Bookstore

Zhengyang bookstore started to open the front Gate (Qianmen) in the corridor room two (Lang fang er tiao Hutong). Because it's at the foot of the Zhengyang gate, so named Zhengyang Bookstore. Later, because the lease time-six years expires, Zhengyang bookstore move to Wansong old Pagoda at Zhuanta Hutong.

Zhengyang bookstore is Beijing's first non-profit public reading space "brick reading space", which is mostly books related with the old Beijing, and are free to borrow and reading. In fact, the Zhengyang bookstore, it is a bookstore, as it is an old Beijing culture Dojo, attracted from all sides scattered in the old Beijing are here together.

Zhengyang bookstore is the ideal spot to sit back and relax with a cup of tea and some old books. While the majority of volumes are in Chinese, there is a small selection are English-language books available. 

In addition, adjacent to Zhengyang Bookstore is Zhuanta Hutong (which is said to be the brick alley), Beijing's oldest hutong.  Dating from the Yuan Dynasty (1267- 1368), it’s known as the earliest recorded alley, and thus the foundation of Beijing’s famous hutongs. Renowned Chinese writer Lu Xun lived at No 84 from 1923-24, which is why the hutong was ultimately preserved rather than demolished like many of its compatriots – not because it was, say, incredibly historical in its own right or anything.
