Bento and Berries

With bright orange decor, shiny vespas as ornaments and walls lined with colorful confections, it's LA chic meets Tokyo cool meets Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There is a selection of healthy, albeit pre-packaged, goods ranging from Bentos to salads to wraps. The Chicken with Special Sauce Bento is tender with a hint of tangy sweetness. The mozzarella and tomato salad is fresh and delicately presented. Then there are the gorgeous desserts taunting you from beneath glass encasings. The chocolate cherry brownie is rich and indulgent but the angel food cake is all cream and no fluff. "We don't have the right ingredients yet," laments the chef, promising that will soon change. Servings are tiny and there are kinks, but it's a nice little lunch spot, even if only to enjoy the kitsch factor.
