Veliki Tabor Castle

A lovely restored medieval castle with a long history. Built in the 16th century holds its position on a hilltop overlooking the hills and villages. Famous by its legend of Veronica from Desinić, a common girl accused of being a witch just because she fell in love with one of the nobles. Walled into the city walls people say that  in long winter nights you can still hear her scream. Her scull was found in the castle restoration.
