Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Arrival (L, D)

Welcome at Tan Son Nhat airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon visit old and new Saigon in the central ‘French quarter’, Ho Chi Minh Square, Municipal Theatre and Notre Dame Cathedral. Following a tour of the Reunification Palace (formerly the Presidential Palace) and War Remnants Museum you will drive to Cholon, the Chinatown district of the city and visit the huge Binh Tay market. Dinner and overnight in Saigon.

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong Delta (B, L)

Breakfast at hotel. Pick up and transfer to My Tho. Upon arrival, board a motorboat and head out on the mighty Mekong to Xuan Dong Islet. In contrast to many of the overly visited Mekong islands, we choose Xuan Dong for its quieter, less crowded, and more authentic slice of Mekong life. Hop on a bike and savor the leisurely time to explore and pedal through this green and unspoiled island. Make frequent stops for photos and glimpses and of the daily lives of local villagers. We'll then take a small boat as you are rowed quietly along the thick mangroves of Vam Xep, a small canal with little village houses dotted along its sides. Get off the boat to enjoy some honeyed tea at the 'Coconut Artisan' village to check out the workshops where a range of coconut husk and fiber products are skillfully handcrafted. We next take a small sampan along Vam Chua canal, gliding peacefully along the hidden waterways surrounded by immense variety of tropical plants. The quiet, rural setting is a welcome and restorative retreat to the frenetic buzz of Sai Gon which seems far, far away. We then stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy tropical fruits and fork music. Visit Vinh Trang Pagoda. Back to Saigon. Free time. Overnight in Saigon.

Day 3: Ho Chi Minh - Hanoi (B, L)

Breakfast at hotel. Pick up and transfer to the airport for flight to Hanoi. Begin your Hanoi experience by visiting the Ho Chi Minh Quarter, discover historic Ba Dinh Square - site of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum ‘father of modern Vietnam’, Stilt House, One Pillar Pagoda, the infamous Hanoi Hilton and the peaceful Temple of Literature. Enjoy a water puppet show, a theatrical genre reflecting the agricultural civilization of thousands of years ago. Free at leisure. Overnight at hotel in Hanoi..

Day 4: Hanoi - Halong Bay (B, L)

Breakfast at htoel. Pick up and transfer to Halong. Spend an afternoon cruising Halong Bay, boasts over 3, 000 islands that rise out of the sea to provide a spectacular natural environment. Free to discover Halong city at night. Overnight in Halong.

Day 5: Halong Bay - Noi Bai Airport (B)

Transferred to Noi Bai Airport for departure.
