Tour Description
Day 1: Arrive in Beijing
Upon arrival at Beijing Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Free and leisure in rest of the day.
Day 2: Beijing Sightseeing ( L )-- Bus tour to Ancient City Wall, hutong and Mutianyu Great wall
Morning pick up service at your hotel at 7:30am, transfer to Ancient City Wall by coach. Then you will visit Ancient City Wall(Sightseeing for about 1 hour).
Ancient City Wall:
Since Beijing is the ancient capital of China, the city wall has always been the brightest focal point of the dynasts. The city wall, surrounding the residential area, is the most basic constituent of a city. Beijing's city wall is a masterpiece owing to its grand verve and spirit. It is the brick deposit for defense, and a great ancient project embodying the beautiful physique of Beijing. It is a symbol of the time when humanity made a step towards civilization. After that, your tour guide will take you to Bell Tower and Drum Tower(1 hour).The Bell and Drum Towers continued to function as the official timepiece of China and government until 1924, when the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty was forced to leave the Forbidden City) and western-style clockwork was made the official means of time-keeping.
Bell and Drum Tower:
Gulou, the drum tower of Beijing, is situated at the northern end of the central axis of the Inner City to the north of Di'anmen Street. Originally built for musical reasons, it was later used to announce the time and is now a tourist attraction.Zhonglou, the bell tower of Beijing, stands closely behind the drum tower. Together with the drum tower, they provide an overview of central Beijing and before the modern era, they both dominated Beijing's ancient skyline.Bells and drums were musical instruments in ancient China. Later they were used by government and common people as timepieces. The Bell and Drum towers were the center of Chinese chronology during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Then we will take Rickshaw Explore Hutong at Houhai Lake(1.5 hours). Houhai Lake is the most famous lake in the heart of Beijing with over 700 year old. Shichahai also is a famous scenic area, surrounding places of historic interest and scenic beauty, and remnants of old-style Beijing residences, Hutong and Courtyard. It is located in the northwest part of Beijing, and covers a large area of 146.7 hectares (about 363 acres).Enjoy 1hour Boating time on the most beautiful Lake area in shichahai lake.
Hutong:
Many famous operas and dramas are based on the themes of the "hutong life". When urban construction threatens the existence of these hutongs, some Beijingers become worried. We trust that a "must see" hutong tour will greatly help you know more about Beijing history and culture.
Lunch in the local restaurant.(1hours)
After lunch, proceed to visit Mutianyu Great Wall(3 hours). Mutianyu Great Wall is the most beautiful section of the all 5 sections of the Great Wall in Beijing. The hike takes about 2-3 hours. It has an extemely beautiful natural landscape once you are up on the wall, green, densely wooded. This section of the Great Wall is comparatively smoother than most of other sections. We Stop at Olympic Park for photo taking about charming night view of Water Cube and the Bird Nest.(30 minutes). Then back to you hotel.
Mutianyu Great Wall:
Beijing Mutianyu Great Wall, is one of the most famous and best preserved sections of the Great Wall together with Badaling and Jinshanling sections. Located in the northeast of Beijing Municipality, Mutianyu is connected with the smaller hotspot sections of Jiankou in the west and Lianhuachi in the east. This section used to serve as the northern wall defending the capital city and the Imperial power, like a giant galloping dragon on mountain peak preserving the entrance to emperors' kingdom.
Day3: Beijing Sightseeing ( L )-- Bus tour to Tiananmen aquare, Forbidden city and Summer Palace
Pick up from your hotel at 8:30 am. First visit Tiananmen Square(1hours). Tiananmen Square is the heart and symbol of Beijing and is the biggest square in the world as well. The square can hold about one million people for public celebration or gatherings. On the west of Tiananmen Square it is the Great Hall of the People, the meeting place of national people's congress of the People's Republic of China. There are Monument to the People's Heroes and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum on the south. On the east of Tiananmen Square is The National Museum of China, and visiting the exhibition is like reading concise China General History. Then move on to the Imperial Palace(2.5 hours), also known as the "Forbidden City", the largest and best-preserved ancient imperial palaces group with 500 years history. The palace was built between 1406 and 1420, but was burnt down, rebuilt, sacked and renovated countless times, so most of the architecture you can see today dates from the 1700's and onwards.
Lunch in a Local restaurant(1 hour).
After lunch, visit the Summer Palace(1.5 hours), one of China's largest imperial garden. Summer Palace was originally a royal garden and a temporary dwelling palace for emperors of Qing Dynasty, Its predecessor was the Garden of Clear Ripples (Qingyiyuan) started in 1750 and burned down by the British and French allied troops in 1860. Fresh-water pearl market for a good bargain not to be missed. Back to your hotel.
Summer Palace:
The Summer Palace was ravaged by the Allied Forces of the Eight Powers that invaded China in 1900. The damage was repaired in 1902. The Summer Palace became the residence of the Dowager Empress Cixi who spent a great deal of money expanding and beautifying the area, supposedly using funds allocated for the modernisation of the Chinese Navy.
Day4: Airport transfer
Free and leisue in the morning. Be picked up from your hotel and transferred to airport to connect your flight or free at your own leisure.
