Songhua River is frozen in wintertime, and you can find an outdoor swimming pool built by the Harbin Swimming Committee at the bank of Songhua River in wintertime annually. The outdoor swimming pool is about 100 meters long and 30 meters wide. The ice of river surface is 1 meter deep, and the water under ice pool is about 6 meters deep. Everyday you can see many professional Chinese and Russian swimmers faces minus temperatures to jump into a pool carved out of ice from the Songhua River. They are agile swimmer, full of grace and speed, having fun here. Winter swimming is traditionally popular in Harbin, it's especially popular amongst the elderly and retired as it's believed to improve circulation and benefit health.

Please beware that we just see the show of professional swimmers, coz we are just audiences or visitors, we could not jump into the frozen Songhua River by following them. If you follow them to jump into the river, then I will find you in Amur River of Russia in 2 days since Songhua River flows to Amur River:)
