Tour Description
During this tour you will see all major attractions in the city center including Diocletian's Palace and Split old town, UNESCO's World Heritage sites. This tour includes also the most spectacular views of Split old town and surrounding from the very best locations in the city. We will firstly walk through medieval quarter of Radunica to enjoy the view over Split from the Gripe fortress.
Afterwards we will visit the Diocletian's Palace and old Split town, UNESCO world heritage sites, including entrances to the most interesting sites inside the Palace:
St. Domnius Cathedral - one of the oldest cathedrals in the world, with it's magnificent interior actually a small museum.
Substructure halls of the Diocletian's Palace - the unique basement complex that witnesses today the original size of the palace together with the above chambers, where famous Roman emperor was enjoying his retirement days.
Temple of Jupiter / Baptistery of St. John - built inside the Palace as Diocletian considered the highest roman god, Jupiter, to be his divine father. Later, transformed into cristian baptistery this temple became one of the best preserved remains from the Split ancient period.
The entrance to the St. Domnius Bell Tower (60 meters high) can also be programmed during this tour as the additional tour opportunity without extra charges. From the peak of the Bell Tower you can enjoy spectacular scenario over the Diocletian's palace, old houses, Split Port and nearby islands! The cost of the ticket is approx. 2 € / person. Please note: there are lot of stairs and dizzy heights, therefore this option is not recommended to everybody.
After lunch in a traditional dalmatian "trattoria" (optional, additional cost approx. 10 € / person), we will walk to the western side of the town to enjoy the panorama of the city from the different angle (fishermen's harbour) and will proceed to the Saint Stephen's peak to enjoy some great sea views. At the end, we will reach the peak of medieval Veli Varos quarter to enjoy the "postcard" views of Split old town and port from Belvedere spot.
