Carcassonne is a fortified town established in the 5th century by the Visigots and today is one of major tourist destinations in France. There are about 3 million tourists every year in Carcassonne. Visitors can enjoy its stone walls, cobbled streets, towers, and museums mostly dedicated to the history of Carcassonne.
Since 1997, Carcassonne is on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Castle of Carcassonne and the Basilica of Saint Nazaire are not to be missed. This is really a beautiful medieval fortified town which narrates parts of European history.
