Enoshima

Enoshima is a small island connected with the bridge to the mainland. Because of many attractions located here, Enoshima attracts numerous visitors every year. The island has beautiful beaches and excellent restaurants offering local food.

There are several Buddhist temples, Enoshima Daishi, Ryukoji Temple, and a beautiful Enoshima Shrine (江島神社 Enoshima-jinja) which is constructed of three shrines that are located on different places on the island. There is a beautiful botanical garden, the Samuel Cooking Garden and Observatory.

The Iwaya Caves are two caves which are also interesting to many tourists. In one cave there are Buddhist statues, while the other is dedicated to the dragon which, according to the legend, had the power to terrorize the entire area.

Enoshima is extremely interesting and a rather small island but with many interesting monuments, beaches and legends.
