What to look for in a hotel

So you are at a hotel in China, but before you hand over your money, why not check these things first:

can foreigners stay here?

what is the location like?

where is the room? will it be noisy or quiet?

what is the mattress like? rock hard or just really hard?

is there water in the bathroom? is it hot?

is there hot water all day and night?

is breakfast included?

is the room lockable? is it secure?
