Volunteering in China

These days, many people who travel also want to give something back, by volunteering.

But there seem to be large number of outfits which make a lot of money by arranging volunteer opportunities. Do you really want to pay out a lot of money to an organisation which gives little to the people you want to help?

The best way to avoid this is to use the internet to find a good organisation which doesn't charge a fee to place you. Sure, you might be expected to contribute to your living expenses, such as accommodation, meals, etc, but don't be fooled into forking out hundreds of dollars to an organisation in North America or Europe which pockets the money.
