We designed this route because it takes you through some of the most astounding and the most beautiful landscapes of Northern Yunnan. On this journey, you will ride through mountains and by the riverside, experiencing scenic spots such as the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Haba and Meli Snow Mountains,Yangtze River, Mekong River and Salween River.

 

This trek also shows you the colourful and diverse nature of vibrant culture. You will pass through minority villages of the Naxi, Tibetan and Lisu people, and spend time in these of life and seeing how they live together harmoniously. 

 

This trek is evenly paced for you  meaning that you can stop by anytime to take photos or just rest in minority villages. We feel it is important to keep you own speed of cycling and keep the speed steady rather than fast and slow.  Especially when the We guarantee that this trek will make for a memorable one, not only for how close  you will be brought  to  the tranquil and untouched nature of Southwest China, but also for the refreshing and invigorating effect this journey will have on your body and mind. 

Lijiang to Qiaotou (ride 90 km)

Day 1

  

In the morning, we ride to and visit Lashi Lake. After lunch we drive to Xionggu and then ride to Qiaotou town (Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge) 

Overnight at Yixiang hotel (1*)

Qiaotou to Baishuitai (ride 65 km)

Day 2

   

Ride to Baishutai via Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge and Haba village. Visit Tiger Leaping Gorge and White Water terraces. 

  

Overnight at Baiyu hotel (1*)

  

Baishuitai to Shangri-la (105km, ride 70km)

Day 3

  

We drive for a short while from Baishuitai, and then ride into Shangri-la.

Day 4

After breakfast, we ride to Songzanlin Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan, nicknamed the "Little Potala". The old town of Gyalthang is another fascinating place to visit. Free  time  in the afternoon to explore.

Shangri-la to Deqin (ride 90km)

 

Day 5

  

Ride to Deqin County, On the way, we will see: Mud-pottery workshop in Nixi village, Town of Benzilan (an important transfer town between Yunnan and Tibet), the First Bend of the Golden-sand River, Dongzhulin monastery, Baimai Snow Mountain, and Welcoming Pagodas of Deqin.

You may also enjoy the views of the meadows and the Tibetan villages breathtaking scenery.

Day 6

  

Today we visit the Feilai Monastery. Built in 1614, it was an important monastery on the Yunnan-Tibet Road. If weather permits, we will ride a horse or hike to get up close to the Mingyong Glacier.

Deqin to Weixi (170 km, ride 90km)

Day 7

  

We ride along the Mekong River down to Weixi County, on the way visiting the Cizhong Church. It is amazing that you can see a Christian church in Tibetan area!- It was built by a French churchman almost 100 years ago. The church is located within a village, where Han, Naxi and Tibetan people live together harmoniously.

Weixi to Lijiang (210km, ride 100km) 

Day 8

Riding to Shigu village, on the way we will pass a lot of Tibetan and Lisu villages. We may pay a visit one of these local villages before finally, driving back to Lijiang (65km).
