"China General History Exhibition" is the basic display in the museum. It has two floors. The first level is to demonstrate the history from the primitive society to Southern and Northern Dynasties about 1,400 years ago. The second floor exhibits the period from the Sui Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty. The audiences can view a gigantic and three-dimensional model of history of China is shown here. A large three-dimensional China map is being displayed in the preface hall, where also has the remake of the ancient meteorological apparatus – armillary sphere and other relic replicas. The hall shows from the oldest human history about 2.7 million years ago to the First Opium War in the year 1840. This exhibition is divided into three sections – Primitive Society, Slave Society and Feudal Society, with a lot of excavated relics, display graphs, replica models and word descriptions which will systematically reflect the development of ancient China and show the main key events, as well as prominent people and innovative creations in the past. Moreover, the History Museum of China often holds theme exhibitions concerning history, archeology and heritage.
