History

The architecture was completed at the same time with the Great Hall of the People in 1959, which was the year to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The History Museum of China was founded in 1912. At that time, it was called "National History Museum Preparatory Committee". October 1, 1949 the founding day of the new China, the museum was renamed "National History Museum of Beijing" and it was eventually and formally christened as "History Museum of China". This museum is the biggest of its kind in China that finds, collects, researches and displays Chinese cultural heritage. It has a total exhibition area of about 8,000 square meters with over 9,000 items of historical relic pieces.
