It is 13,422 Km long, 2~20 meters wide, 2~30 meters high. It is longest in the world. It was made 2.5 million years ago when the volcano in Mt. Hallasan ran through to the sea.

It is registered as Natural Monument 98, on December 3, 1962. It is also listed in UNESCO world cultural heritage. We cannot go around all the cave. The place where we can go looks like big tunnel as two cars can pass by.

Seongsan Ilchulbong peak(성산일출봉) is tuff cone. It is famous for sunrise peak. It is 182 meters high. Even though It is sunrise peak, the sunset over Mt. Hallasan is also very beautiful. It is Nature Reserve('Nature Protection Area').

It is small mountain which will take one hour round trip for ordinary Korean walking. Summit itself has really beautiful scenery, but please remember when you go up please turn around and take a picture.

The general Choiyeong pretend this rock as him and the rebellions killed themselves frightened by the Rock. Because there were Mongolian rebellions those who oppose to the request of tribute of of too many horses.
There were silver couple who lived happily. One day the grandfather went to the sea and he didn't comeback. The grandmother shouted at the beach waiting her husband. But she became the Rock, unfortunately.

Yongmeori Haean(용머리해안) beach is named by the shape of the beach. They say that it look like the head of dragon. But actually there are old saying that this place is the best place for producing Emperor. Some one from foreign country destroyed the body part of dragon, so the god of the Mt. Hallasan was really upset and the man drowned when he tried to escape.

This route can be modified by season.

Mt. Halla in Jeju, S. KOREA is one of the best mountains for snow trekking. It is 1950 meters high. Normally you will start 800 meters high sea level. There are two courses to hit the summit, Baekrokdam. Those are Seongpanak course and Gwaneumsa course. Other three courses are not hiting the summit but those are still beautiful. For beginners start from Seongpanak - Summit - return to the same Seongpanak is highly recommended. These are 9 hours round trip hiking courses. So you have to bring lunch in your backpack. For your safety, there is time limit. By 12:00pm (at noon) you should reach Jindalre shelter from Seongpanak (or Samgakbong shelter from Gwaneumsa point). I recommend you to reach Jindalre shelter by 11:00 am. Because you need to have a lunch. At least you have to wear crampons (=eisen) and spats. Sticks also helpful. Prepare one time use raincoat for warmer as well as rain. Among them crampons are necessary. Bring hot water and drinking water.
