Arc de Triomphe de l´Etoile is located in the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle, at the western end of the famous avenue Champs-Élysées. Except from being one of the most famous monuments in Paris it is 49.5 m high, which makes ti the second largest triumphal arch in the world. The construction of the arch was completed in 1833 and dedicated to the glory of the imperial armies.

Four huge relief sculptures can be seen at the bases of the pillars. The names of the major victories won during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic periods are engraved around the top of the arch. On the inside walls there are inscribed the names of minor victories and of 558 generals.

There is a small museum inside the arch which tells the story of its history, design and construction. Visitors can also climb to the top of the arch and enjoy the view.

The Avenue des Champs Élysées is also known as ´La plus belle avenue du monde´ which means ´The most beautiful avenue in the world´. The phrase speaks for itself. This avenue rins almost two km and it is 70 m wide.

This is one of the best districts for walking and shopping. The avenue is host to numerous fashion boutiques, restaurants and theatres. Due to its position in the Paris center and several valuable monuments Champs-Élysées is one of the most expensive streets for real estate buying.

Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey is located on a small rocky island just one kilometer off the coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River. The island is most famous for the medieval Benedictine Abbey and church inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. In the 6th and 7th century the islet was used as a stronghold, and the construction of the first monastic establishment occurred in the 8th century. The church was built in the 11th century.

There exists an interesting legend about Archangel Michel and Bishop Aubert according to which bishop had a vision in which the archangel told him to build an oratory. During its long history the Abbey had a great influence and wealth. It was even used as a prison for some period of time.

Natural land bridge connects the mainland with the islet which, before the modernization, was covered with water during high tide and revealed during low tide. The tide in this area comes very quickly as one meter per second. It is very dangerous to go across the sands from one shore to another. In order to arrive at Mont Saint Michel there is a perfectly secure causeway.

900 steps, the Lace Staircase (Escalier de Dentelle) lead to the abbey church. The church of St. Pierre with the statue of St. Michel slaying the dragon is located halfway to the abbey. The abbey entrance can be reached by Grand Degré staircase.   

After the Eiffel Tower, Mont Saint Michel is the most visited attraction in France. This place is really worth visiting. Everyone will admire its beauty and cultura heritage.
